Is Shed One Distillery gin produced in small batches?
Yes, all Shed One Distillery gins, spirits, liqueurs and pre-mixed cocktails are produced in small batches. This approach ensures consistency, quality control, and the ability to refine each recipe carefully. The botanicals they use are a mix of traditional, locally-grown and foraged.
Andy and Zoe, the distillers and owners, started with a 25 litre still in their garden shed. When they moved to The Old Calf Shed, they purchased a 100 litre still.
They also designed a closed loop cooling system to save hundreds of thousands of litres of water being wasted. This, among many other sustainable and regenerative initiatives, was a reason why they won The Gin Guide’s Environmental Sustainability Award for four years running. Shed One Distillery has a dedicated web page to report their people-planet business model.
Each Shed One Distillery batch makes about 130 bottles of gin or vodka. When making liqueurs, they generally make batches of about 60. For their pre-mixed cocktails, the batch size averages 40.
They also work with and make bespoke gins for others, including chefs, businesses and community groups.
