Shed One Chilli Fest wins Bronze at The Great British Food Awards!

Chilli Fest is a winner with so many of our customers. But, it hasn't been entered into a tasting competition for quite a while, so we decided it was time to see what the experts think. So it's no surprise that we're chuffed with the result.

We were the only distillery in the northwest to be featured in the ‘Gin’ categories, which we're pretty proud of.

Continuing our commitment to sustainability, we use locally-grown chillies. These are grown by Becky. People ask what type of chillies they are and we answer truthfully that, "They are Becky Chillies". The thing is, she planted the first one a few years ago and has replanted the seeds for each season. However, none of us can remember what the original variety was! We can say that they are NOT blow your head off ones.

What goes into our Chilli Fest win? First we distil a fruity, spicy gin. Then, we infuse fresh chillies. This adds a soft, chilli heat and gives the gin its signature yellow hue. If we distilled with the chillies, the heat would be more intense and far less pleasant.

This Chilli Fest win is the 5th award for Shed One Distillery in 2025. The awards include Silvers for both our Martini Gin and Springwaite Gin at The World Gin Awards. Plus, our Make Your Own Spirit Experience (both Gin and Vodka) won the best Experience at the Cumbria Tourism Awards.

Serving Suggestion for the Chilli Fest win:
Neat, over ice or warm it to enhance the spices for a winter dram.
Classic serve for a G&T, garnished with an Orange slice.

For a special Cocktail, mix up a Chilli Fest Gimlet, or Spicy Margarita-don't forget to rim the glass with lime, salt and harissa.
