Experiences at Shed One Distillery
It's been 5 years since we launched our original experiences at Shed One Distillery. (Bit of a glitch launching just before lock down). We’ve tweaked, edited and added, but the heart of them is still the same.
When visitors arrive, we tell them that the Shed is their living room for them to relax in and take refuge from the world outside. The reason why we say it, is because that is what the Shed is to us. Over the years we’ve seen people “unfold”. We share their celebrations and commiserations, the joys and the heartaches. It is a privilege and a pleasure. And that’s why the Shed is so much more than a distillery.
For those of you who may not know what happens at the Shed, these are our experiences at Shed One Distillery.

Tours & Tastings of our different spirits and liqueurs: It may surprise some but we do get visitors who aren't drinking alcohol for various reasons. In those cases, we serve a cordial that has the same flavour profile as one of our gins. Everyone gets our own recipe Indian Tonic Water, made with Cumbrian Water. After a welcome drink and tour, we talk through each taster, describing the botanicals and the stories behind each one. At the end, the non-drinker gets to choose a double measure (5cl bottle) to take home or gift to someone. (We’re also looking forward to welcoming several coach trips, this year.)

Botanical-inspired Afternoon G&Tea with Distillery Tour: Zoe continues to adapt and update, but it will always be based on a traditional afternoon tea. One early, major adaptation was to make the Shed One kitchen gluten-free. That meant much experimenting and tweaking so that no-one notices! The public teas are also vegetarian. As featured in The Sunday Times

Make Your Own Spirits: Originally, Cumbria’s first Make Your Own Gin, we opened it up to Vodka lovers. Up to 5 stills (6 for private groups), we show you how we got started. This includes blind-sniffing 40 botanicals, learning the art of blending (every botanical goes together), eating scone and cake while your spirit is distilling. Then, finding the perfect abv% and finally creating your own label. Could be the best four hours of the year!
As for our newer experiences

Cocktail Class with a Twist: A welcome cocktail and chat. Then, before making your own cocktails, we guide you through creating your tonic water and botanical sugar syrup. Once you have everything you need, and a bit of knowledge, it’s time to create your signature cocktail.

Ultimate Distiller’s Experience: This is our very latest, and one of these experiences is up for grabs in our Birthday Draw. Spend one and a half days with us at Shed One. Come behind the scenes, into the distillery, to learn about bubble plates, cuts and mixes. Help us distil a batch in our 100L still. Bottle, label and wax and take a couple of bottles home. There will be lunch, and there will be giggles. We’ve even teamed up with Lonsdale House Apartments in Ulverston for an overnight accommodation deal.
