Shed One Distillery - Quality British Gin
Here at Shed One Distillery we believe in producing quality British gin. To that end we source the best ingredients and use purified Cumbrian water. Without compromising our quality British gin, we have implemented many green initiatives and are proud to be a net-zero, climate positive business.
Launched in our Garden Shed in 2016, we re-potted the distillery to The Old Calf Shed and opened our visitor space. From a 25 litre still we now have a 100 litre still, producing 4 times more quality British gin, but still very much a micro-distillery. As well as distilling, we also bottle, label and wax all the bottles, mostly by hand. If you buy a bottle of Shed One Gin, you can be assured that it’s been made right here in The Old Calf Shed, Ulverston.
Our first creation was Cuckold’s Revenge, it’s the closest to a traditional quality British gin that we make. Fresh zest, green cardamom, coriander and other spices give it layers and depth. It’s won a few awards and is featured in “101 Gins To Try Before You Die”.
After Cuckold’s we went on to make Giggle in the Ginnel (Star Anise and Angelica giving it an aniseed edge), Festive Tipple, Fancy Frolic and Shed Loads of Love (with 24k gold leaf, silver and champagne leaf). All classically-distilled gins, incorporating a variety of botanicals. Using fresh zest in our quality British gin, we have a surplus of citrus fruit. We mix with botanicals and a splosh of gin to make Shed One Gin Jelly Marmalade, part of every sale goes into our charity Marmalade Fund.
After foraging in the autumn, we produce our Festive Bramble Gin Elixir also made with locally-grown, organic heritage apples and plums. Our other traditional-strength elixir is Blackcurrant and Liquorice. The blackcurrants are grown just up the road on a small holding.
Chilli Fest Gin came about as a limited edition for Holker Hall’s Chilli Festival and was so popular we made it a permanent fixture. Our latest quality British gin is Chuckleberry Gin. It’s a bathtub gin which means we keep the natural vibrant pink colour of the chuckleberries. Quite different from our others, we created it to be mixed with tonic as standard.
