2023 was a year for awards, new spirits, special events & experiences!
We were so proud to win SILVER at Visit England's Awards for Excellence; Experience of the Year, 2023. First we enjoyed a celebratory dinner with all the other finalists on Platform 9 and 3/4, The Harry Potter Studios. Then we were presented with our award by Alex Polizzi, the hotel inspector.
You can experience our award-winning experience at Shed One. Our Make Your Own Spirits workshop now includes a choice of creating your signature gin, or botanical vodka. However, this is only one of our special events & experiences.
We are a small (micro!) distillery and all events and experiences must be booked, unless otherwise stated.
Our special events & experiences include our distillery experiences. Named because you get a distillery tour hosted by us, the owners and distillers, as part of your experience.
Afternoon G&Tea with Tour. A botanical-inspired afternoon tea served on linen & lace tablecloths, with proper napkins! Beginning with welcome tipple, followed by a distillery tour. Then, it's back into our stylish and quirky bar area for a savoury bites, scones and sweet treats. Shed One kitchen is gluten-free and our afternoon teas are vegetarian. Other dietary needs can be accommodated; however, please let us know when booking. For more details and booking go to our Afternoon G&Tea page. Please note that our teas are very popular and fill up quickly. We have now added Fridays, as well as Saturdays. If you are a group, get in contact as we have some flexibility on other days and times.
Find out all about how we, Andy & Zoe, started. Begin with a welcome tipple, followed by a chat in our distillery. Then, we will taste you through 5 (minimum) spirits and tell you all about the story and botanicals behind them. As well as gin, we also create botanical spirits with many of the ingredients being foraged and locally-grown.
Then choose your favourite for a second tipple.

This is the experience that first won, Cumbria Tourism's Best Experience Award. That led us to be entered for the national awards-Visit England's Awards for Excellence, 2023. We won SILVER!
Give yourself 4 hours for this as it's a proper afternoon of spirited fun, interesting information and some sweet treats. The result will be your very own SIGNATURE SPIRIT to take home. Once you've provided an image and name, you'll also have a personal label to attach to this very special bottle.
Starting with a welcome tipple, followed by a chat in the distillery. Then back into our visitor area where we, the owners and distillers (Andy & Zoe) will guide you through the whole experience. There are no lists of botanicals to choose from. We get you to sniff over 40 botanicals and then show you how to blend and create something very special. Once your spirit is in your mini still, we'll bring you some sweet treats, tea & coffee, and another tipple. Then we help you find your perfect %abv. How many botanicals do you need for your perfect tipple? It's up to you. The minimum has been 4 and the maximum, so far, is 28!
Groups are kept small with only 6 stills maximum. This ensures personal guidance.

Sally, Absolute Beginner Creative Workshops, will be guiding you through a series of needle-felting projects.
