Our foraged and locally grown Ulverston '23 Gin won Bronze at The World Gin Awards. Part of each sale goes into our Marmalade Fund and is donated to Furness Homeless Support.
And then, our first official botanical spirit, Quince, won Bronze at The World Vodka Awards. All the ingredients are grown in our local Ford Park walled garden. Part of each sale goes into our Marmalade Fund and is donated to Ford Park, which is a charity.
We love creating our recipes. However, being able to use the botanicals that grow in and around Ulverston and support local groups and charities makes it extra special.
Inspiration for our Ulverston '23 Gin came when we were out and about, walking our Border Terrier, Gertie. Hoad-the iconic hill that can be seen from every corner of Ulverston, is home to gorse bushes. Did you know that gorse flowers taste like coconut? This is one of the foraged ingredients in our World Drinks Awards Winners. Mixed with gorse, there is also meadowsweet, linden flower, comfrey leaves and speedwell. These create a delicious, herbaceous hedgerow element to our London Dry Gin.
For our award-winning botanical Quince vodka, we visited our local Ford Park. Here you can stroll around the walled garden. In the centre is the most beautiful quince tree and this inspired us to create this spirit. Taking the quince, pears and sage that all grow in the walled garden we created this lovely botanical vodka.
Many visitors don't realise that Ford Park is a charity that not only cares for and creates this beautiful space for us all, but also supports the local community. Zoe occasionally volunteers there, and enjoys getting hands-on in the park and garden.
So, it's all happy dances here at Shed One Distillery while we continue to celebrate being World Drinks Awards Winners!
