Who is Cumbria Crystal?

Cumbria Crystal was founded in 1976 by Lord and Lady Cavendish and a small group of local business people to produce exceptional, handmade full lead crystal tableware.

The Company has remained small and true to its artisan roots. They believe it is important customers can watch crystal being made using historic techniques, so visitors are invited to watch the artisans at work.
Today, the Company produces crystal for all the British Embassies and Residencies across the world to grace formal dinners and state occasions.

Cumbria Crystal supplied the majority of the crystal for the internationally acclaimed TV drama Downton Abbey, the Georgian inspired Grasmere pattern, designed by Lady Cavendish, suits the formal Edwardian tables to perfection. As well as Downtown Abbey, you will have seen their beautiful creations in James Bond, The Crown, Peaky Blinders, Darkest Hour, Ted Lasso and more!

Cumbria Crystal is the last producer of completely hand-blown and hand-cut, luxury, 24% English lead crystal in the United Kingdom. It is dedicated to Retaining & Developing traditional glass making skills. Their aspiration is to create the best crystal in the world using only traditional heritage skills.

**These normally retail for £50.00 at Cumbria Crystal. However, as each is handblown not every one is perfect. The slightest flaw would mean they would be crushed and remelted. So, rather than using more energy to recycle the glass, we are happy to offer these very slight seconds to our customers. You would be hard pressed to see any difference.
